Sun City Photography Club Minutes, General Meeting, February 8, 2018

Announcements and Club Business:
Norm opened the meeting opened at 7 pm and led the pledge.
Members present 16 + three guests, each of whom was asked to introduce themselves to members.  
Membership to date: 24
Treasurer's Report: Dennis reported that we've taken in over $150 in dues since last month and currently have $145 in Retained Earnings.
Refreshments Committee: Larry brought refreshments for tonight's meeting. J will bring them next month.
March Display at Mountain Shadows: Adrian Cole – Pictures will be grouped by camera type: Smartphone photos, basic Aim and Shoot camera photos, and all-the-bells-and-whistles camera photos.  Photos must be 8 x 10, matted (11 x 14 mats) not framed, and can be brought to Mountain Shadows on March 1st  at 9 AM. Kathy K, Joyce, J, and Dennis volunteered to assist in setting up the display.
Club Fair: Norm distributed the 4x6 photo card which we will be distributing at the Club Fair on 2/21.  Members were encouraged to invite friends and neighbors to check out our website and attend our next meeting.
Field Trips
Upcoming Field Trips:  3/10: Apple Store Photo Walk, 8-9:30 AM.  3/22: Valley of Fire. We'll visit The Fire Wave and White Dome. 4/19: Secret Garden
China Lights Lantern Festival: On 2/7, a group of members went to Craig Ranch Regional Park for the China Lights Lantern Festival.  Dennis showed photos taken that evening.

Meeting Agenda & Discussion:
Show & Tell: Dale shared her photos of the recent lunar eclipse.
Theme Competition: This month's theme was Still Life. Dennis F's photo was voted Best of Show. Next month's theme is Landscapes.

Techniques and Tips: Norm gave a presentation on Photography – Past, Present, - and – the Future. For next month, Joel L. will give a presentation on the use of strobe lighting and on basic editing using Photoshop Elements.

Childhood Photos: After discussion, members agreed to pursue bringing "childhood photos" of themselves (i.e. up to about age 18) and having members guess who is who.  More information will be made available by the next meeting.
