Chinese New Year on the Strip

Photo Walk – January 16, 2019
Chinese New Year Displays on the Strip

Our Photo Walk to the Strip to capture images of different Chinese New Year Displays on the Strip provided attendees (Beth Bacher, Helen Delahunt, Carole Paul, Jan Whiting, Dale Kavula and Diane Frankenfield) with a fun and productive morning photographing beautiful images of colorful flowers, red lanterns and paper decorations, and this year, numerous pigs, as this is the Year of the Pig!

The morning started with a visit to Bellagio’s Conservatory, with a side stroll to the chocolate fountain, the nearby outdoor canoe sculpture at the Vdara, and the festive displays at the Aria’s Crystals Shops.

The next stops included a visit to the Wynn and Encore, and finally, the Palazzo.  Each stop provided a unique interpretation of the Year of the Pig, and in some places, impressive dragons, both in gold and in red.  All displays were predominantly red and gold in color, and most had beautiful flowers and tropical plants throughout the display.  Red paper envelopes and firecrackers, paper lanterns, large golden coins, and incense burners rounded out the displays.  Everyone was able to capture the beauty of these displays, with the bonus of a very enjoyable morning spent getting to know other Photo Club members.

Our next Photo Walk will be held on February 23, 2019, led by Joyce O’Keefe.  We will be visiting the Apple Store in Downtown Summerlin to meet our guide for the morning. More information may be found on the website, or click here to sign-up. Hope you can join us!
